Step 1: Confirm your device meets the prerequisites

1. Before installing, make sure your system is supported.- Mac: macOS 12 or newer.
> Check via Apple menu → About This Mac.
- Windows: use a supported Windows version.
> Check via Start button → System.
- Older Android devices: Android 7 or newer.
> Install Termux from F-Droid, not the Play Store.

Step 2: Open the Telegram support bot

1. Use the Telegram link from your email or press the button above to join the support chat.2. Press Start in the bot to activate support.3. If anything unusual happens during installation, message the bot for help.

Step 3: Prepare your AI provider API key

1. OpenClaw needs an AI provider to function.2. The walkthrough uses Anthropic as the default example.3. Go to console.anthropic.com and sign up or log in.4. Click Get API key.5. Add credits if prompted.6. Copy your API key and store it safely like a password.7. You can also use OpenAI, Google, or other providers if preferred.

Step 4: Start the OpenClaw installer

1. Go to openclaw.ai and copy the Quick Start command.2. Open a terminal:
- Mac: Terminal from Spotlight.
- Windows: Windows Terminal or PowerShell from Start search.
- Android: Termux.
3. Paste the command into the terminal and run it.4. Wait until the command prompt returns, which means the installer finished that step.

Step 5: Use support if an installation error appears

1. If you hit an error, copy the full error message.2. Send it to the Telegram support bot.3. Follow the bot’s step-by-step fix instructions.
- In the transcript, the issue was Homebrew not found on Mac.
- The fix involved installing Homebrew, then reopening Terminal and rerunning the installer.

Step 6: Enter your OpenClaw configuration choices

1. Continue through the setup prompts after the installer resumes.2. Choose Anthropic as the AI provider if you want the same setup shown in the video.3. Paste in your saved API key when prompted.4. Keep the current model unless you have a reason to change it.5. Choose Telegram for the bot connection.

Step 7: Create and connect your Telegram bot

1. In Telegram, go to BotFather and create a new bot.2. Give it a name and username.3. Copy the bot token BotFather provides.4. Paste that token into the OpenClaw setup when asked.5. This token links OpenClaw to your Telegram bot.

Step 8: Set your search provider and skip optional extras

1. When prompted for a search provider, choose Tavily.2. Sign up or log in to Tavily.3. Copy your Tavily API key and save it securely.4. If OpenClaw asks about skills, choose No for now.
- Skills are optional add-ons for specific apps, websites, files, or workflows.
5. If OpenClaw asks about hooks, choose No for now.
- Hooks are background automations and can be enabled later.

Step 9: Pair OpenClaw with Telegram

1. When setup finishes, OpenClaw will be ready in the terminal.2. Start a conversation with your new Telegram bot.3. OpenClaw will give you a pairing code or approval prompt.4. Copy that code into the terminal when requested.5. Answer the follow-up questions so your OpenClaw Telegram Bot knows how to behave and who you are.

Step 10: Test that everything is working

1. After answering the setup questions, your OpenClaw Telegram Bot should report that it is working.2. Send a simple test message like “hi”.
- If it responds correctly, the installation is complete.
3. You now have OpenClaw running and ready to use.
